Rolling Spit is a food truck (and occasional pop-up) that brings Turkish-style shawarma—called "döner" locally—to street corners and brewery parking lots. Our spit is loaded with a 70/30 blend of lamb and beef, pressed tight and roasted for hours until the outer layer becomes dark and crunchy. We shave it directly into a toasted half-baguette (not a pita), then stuff it with grilled tomatoes, spicy ezme (a tomato-and-pepper relish), and a squirt of lemon. Our signature is the "Islington Special": a wrap that includes both shaved meat and a crispy fried hash brown inside, plus a garlic-yogurt sauce that cools the heat of the red pepper flakes. The truck is painted with hand-drawn Anatolian patterns and plays Turkish psych rock from a small speaker. You'll find us outside the main library on Tuesdays and the farmer's market on Saturdays.
